Un oficial de Ejército en retiro, ex miembro de la DINA, murió en un incendio que se registró este martes en la mañana en el centro de Temuco. El ex uniformado, quien se encontraba solo y postrado, no registraba condenas por violaciones a los derechos humanos.
El fallecido fue identificado como Vianel Valdivieso Cervantes, 82 años, brigadier en retiro de Ejército del rama de Telecomunicaciones y ex miembro del Estado Mayor de la DINA, el aparato represor de los primeros años de la dictadura.
El incendio afectó al piso 15 del edificio Torres del Bosque, ubicado en la esquina de las calles Varas con Vicuña Mackenna, hasta donde llegaron ocho compañías que procedieron a evacuar a unas 500 personas de los distintos pisos.
De acuerdo al sitio Memoria Viva, que contiene archivos de víctimas y violadores de los derechos humanos en dictadura, para el 11 de septiembre de 1973 Vianel Valdivieso estuvo a cargo de la “Operación Silencio”, mediante la cual se acalllaron casi todos los medios de comunicación del país el día del Golpe Militar.
Además, lo sindicó como jefe de la Brigada de Inteligencia Electrónica de la DINA y, por tanto jefe directo de Michael Townley, y como miembro de la Sociedad Pedro Diet Lobos, pantalla comercial de la DINA para encubrir actividades tanto en Chile como en el exterior del pais.
